Against Queensland, South Australia lost 6 wickets for 438 runs (Sangster 61, Grimmett not out 48, Schneider 114, Hack 77, Alexander 62). The weather was dull and showery, necessitating the use of sawdust on the wicket, which, however, was good. The visiting batsmen played very carefully and the scoring was slow. Schneider had a very lucky innings, making many mishits. N.Z. TOUR ALLOWANCES. SYDNEY, January 17. At the monthly meeting of the New South Wales Cricket Association, the question of tlie allowance to players to tour New Zealand was discussed.' It was stated that the Victorian Association had considered granting separate allowances to its players. It was decided to instruct the New South Wales delegates to the Board of Control z to take immediate action to prevent any State Association making a separate allowance to individual members of the. team, and to request the Board tq consider an increase of its allowance, to make it twenty-five shillings daily, while the team was absent from Australia.
