It is the intention of the Committee to try to arrange' a sports programme during Jubilee week, so as to catch the “cracks” who are visiting the Coast during that term. The bowlers are having a glorious time during the present dry spell. The club held another progressive pairs tournament during the week-end, Warburton winning the leads’, and Speakman the skips’ trophies. The Lanks of. this district have challenged the Geordies to a game of Soccer, to take place early next month, According to the Lanks’ backers, they are prepared to concede two points to encourage the Geordie folk to play. This game should prove interesting as to whether the Lanks can have a victory over the Geordie clan. A noted footballer of this district wishes to celebrate his win off the GeeGees, which went into three figures, and is holding a social evening, and intends to invite his many friends next Friday evening at his residence. Messrs Bowes, Heslin, Brown and Munson are expected to arrive home by Tuesday’s exuress from Christchurch, where they have been taking part in the New Zealand bowling tournament. Messrs Southward and Rae arrived home by car, having enjoyed themselves at the tournament. The Convent euchre tournament began last Saturday night for the commencement of the ensuing year, about eighty persons being present. The prize winners were Master A. Gilligham 1, Mr T, E. Kennedy 2.
