JUBILEE PHOTOGRAPHS

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —In your issue of Monday there appeared a letter signed “Enquirer, ’ anent the non-return of a photo lent in connection with the State School Jubilee souvenir booklet. In your issue of even date there appears a paragraph disclaiming any responsibility on the part of the “Star” in this connection, and stating that “all photographs and letterpress material were in charge of the Jubilee organiser, Mr E. 1.. Lord,” thus leading the public to believe that I am responsible for the non-return of the photo in question. This is entirely wrong. My duties as organiser to the School Jubilee Committee terminated at the conclusion of the celebrations, yet, despite this, I called on Mr Kilgou’r, manager of the “Stpr,” and asked for photos used in connection with the souvenir, Mr Kilg'our informing me that he would send same to Mr J. Tennent (then Chairman of the Grev School Committee). This he did at a later date, and Mr Tennent sent all photos received to their respective owners, I receiving my own private ones from that gentleman. From this it will be seen that I had nothing whatsoever to do with the return of photos lent, and therefore cannot be held responsible for the unfortunate position which has arisen. Thanking you in anticipation for the publication of this explanation.—Yours, Grey mouth, 22/11/27.

(We referred the foregoing letter to Mr Tennent, who stated that all photographs were returned to their owners. If any photograph lent has not been returned, application should be made direct to Mr Tennent—Ed., btar.)
