Mr T. Aiklind, a missionary, of Corsota, Columbia, Canada, walked down the gangway of the White Star liner, Cedric accompanied by his wife and their six-weeks-old baby, which he carried in a basket on his arm when that ship reached Liverpool recently. “We have brought, the baby more than 4,000 miles like this,” said Mrs Aiklind. “We don’t believe in prams and other abominations on wheels. We are going to our old home in Mandal, Norway, for a year, and hope to get about like this until baby can walk.” The child, a boy named Oliver, was lying in an open basket some two and a half feet long, and the father carried it with the handles over his arm, much in the fashion of a woman shopping.
