HOKITIKA BOROUGH COUNCIL. (Our Own Correspondent.) HOKITIKA, September 10. The Hokitika Borough Council met last evening. Present: The Mayor (Mr G. A. Perry) and Crs T. W. Duff, W. Jeffries, A. C. Armstrong, E. W. Heenan, G. Heinz, Jas. King and D. J. Evans. Apologies were received for the absence of Crs Elcock and Teichelmann.
, Mrs J. F. AV. Giese, Hampden Iptreet, wrote relinquishing Municipal Reserve No. 570, Davie Street. —Accepted. The Town Clerk, Thames, forwarded a copy of the Thames Diamo.:d Jubilee Souvenir publication, to be placed in the Public Library. W. Connor. slaughterman, Abattoirs, applied for fourteen days’ annual leave. —Request granted. New Zealand Refrigerating Co., Ltd., Christchurch, notified that 57 sheep had been delivered into Hokitika during the month of August, 1927. McKay and Son drew attention to the condition of Tancred Street in the vicinity of their business premises and requesting that the matter’ of a cleanup be considered. —Referred to the Public Works Committee to act. W. Keller wi-ote asking leave to extend his upstairs sitting room on to the balcony.—Request granted. The Overseer reported on work carried cut during the month, T'he Manager of the Abattoirs (Mr J. Jarman) reported: Animals slaughtered: 22 cows, 25 heifers, 65 bullocks, 218 sheep, 5 lambs, 12 pigs, 6 calves. Condemned, 2 cows. Fees received £5l 17 6; same period lust year £52 15/. The Reserves Committee reported, making several- recommendations respecting leasing of reserves ami urg ing improvements to Cass Square, pavilion and other parts.—Resolved that improvements to Cass Square be attended to, and that the matter ol reserves be- gone into thoroughly, with the object of bringing several of them into profit. The Treasurer reported receipts £37, 2/4, expenditure £97 7/5, debit £759. Credit Loan Account £7O 1/7. Accounts amounting to £97 7/5 were passed for payment.
