(Per Press Association.) FALL DOWN CLIFF. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 8. Frank Shackleton, who has been missing from the Ashburton Old Men’s Home for some time, fell down a sixty feet cliff face at Sumner this afternoon. He was picked up unconscious, taken to a doctor, and then to Christchurch Hospital. His injuries are very serious. AGENT ARRESTED. WELLINGTON, Sept. 8. Thomas Victor Crease, aged 41, the Wellington representative of the English firm of Whiteanay and Co., was charged at the Magistrate’s Court with misappropriating £656/2/5 belonging to the firm. He was remanded to September 21. BURGLAR SENTENCED. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 9. Leonard Wright, for breaking into the premises of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co.-op., at Ashburton, and stealing goods valued at £6l; also for breaking into other places, was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment, at the Supreme Court to-day. THAMES JUBILEE THAMES, Sept. 9.

The final meeting of the Jubilee Committee last evening disclosed a satisfactory position. It was recognised that the Jubilee celebrations had been most successful in attracting people from all parts of the Dominion and several from Australia. The balance-sheet showed receipts £475, expenses £159, credit balance £316, which will form the nucleus of a fund for a children’s playground.
