REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent.) REEFTON, August 11. Master Everard Eager, eldest son of Mr A, Eeager, sustained a fractured arm in the R.D.H.S. v. Convent football match on Wednesday. The annual meeting of Knox Church was held on Tuesday evening, a goodly number of chui'ch members, being present. Rev. A. Miller of Westport, presided, and the yearly reports of the various branches of the work of the church were presented to the meeting, showing that the church was in a healthy state financially and otherwise. Office-bearers for the ensuing year were elected, and a musical programme occupied the remainder of the evening. Reefton experienced some very boisterous weather on Wednesday night and biting cold made outdoor conditions extremely unpleasant. Mr A. M- Carroll of the firm of Carroll and O’Brien, has acquired an interest in a business at Greymouth and proposes to leave here shortly. During his long residence at Reefton, Mr Carroll has taken an active interest in local government, being at present a sitting member of the Inangahua County Council, the chairmanship of which he occupied last year. He is also secretary of the Reefton Jockey Club, a position he has filled for some years. He will be greatly missed, and his departure is a distinct loss to the community.
