Mrs F. Knott left to-day, on a visit to Christchurch. Mr R. Reynolds, karoro, who is an inmate of the isolation ward, Grey Hospital, is progressing favourably. Mr J, Dennehy, of South Westland, left by to-day’s express, on a visit to Christchurch. Guests at the Albion Hotel include: Messrs Coates, Stead, Julius and McClure (Christchurch). Lieut-Col. W. H. Austin, Inspector of Technical Education, is on an official visit to Greymouth. Mesdames Walshe and Jemmett, daughters of the late Mrs Johanna McCarthy, left on their return to the North Island by to-day’s express. The wedding of Miss J. Mirfin and Mr C. Morel took place at Ikamatua yesterday. Mr and Mrs Morel were outward passengers by to-day’s express, on their honeymoon. The engagement is announced of Clara, the only daughter of Mr A. Dalziel, and the late Mrs A. Dalziel, Nelson Creek, to Gordon Douglas, second eldest son of Mr and Mrs Maindonald, St. Alban’s, Christchurch. Private advice has been received of the death of Miss Rene Monson, which took place in Lewisham Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday evening after a long illness. Deceased was a daughter of Mr R. Monson, for many years manager of the Union Steam Ship Coy., Nelson, and a sister of the late Dr. Bernard Monson, who resided in Greymouth. The death took place at Invercargill last week of Miss Lucy Harcourt. The deceased lady was about 84 years of age, and was resident in Hokitika up till two years ago, when she left to live in Invercargill. She leaves two brothers, Grant, of Invercargill, and Gordon, of Kanieri. Richard Harcourt, of Koiterangi, and Gordon Harcourt, jnr., of Hokitika are nephews of the deceased. The wedding was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, Ross, on Tuesday, of Mr Amos Douglas, of Karamea, and Margaret, eldest daughter of Mr P. Nolan, of Okuru. Nuptial Mass was solemnised by the Rev. Father O’Doherty, of Ross. Mrs Farmer played the wedding march. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her uncle, Mr M. Nolan, looked charming in a frock of French crepe-de-chine with veil and coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums, snowdrops and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Mary Dale (a cousin of the bride) wore a frock of apricot crepe-de-chine with a crinoline hat and a bouquet to match her frock. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. J. Dennehy as best man. After the ceremony a reception w r as held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Nolan. The newly married couple left on their honeymoon on a tour of the north, the bride travelling in a frock of saxe blue repp with coat and hat to match.
