MEETINGS

FARMERS’ EXCURSION. A meeting of the various sub committees in connection with the visit of the Canterbury farmers to Greymouth, from July 20 to 23, was held on Saturday evening, Mr J. McLean presiding. Mr McLean advised that arrangements for cars to convey the visitors to Punakaiki on the 20th, were well in hand and th'”’ ample cars would • be available. He also reported that Mr Beban, manager of the pictures, had agreed to grant a concession to the visitors who attended the pictures on Thursday, July 21. Mr Kim Williams reported that good arrangements had been made regarding refreshments on the various excursions. Mr F. Baillie reported that the Male Choir had agreed to provide half the programme for the entertainment on Friday, July 21, and the Grey Municipal Band, the other half.. Mr Rose reported that all arrangements for the A. and P. Social for the evening of July 20 were made. As it was found impracticable to visit the James and Rewanui Mines, the visit was abandoned. It was decided to invite all members of the Farmers’ Union, in the district, to attend the functions arranged for the visitors. Also to endeavour to arrange for the Government Cinematographer to take pictures during the visit of the Canterbury farmers, and to arrange for a Press photographer to accompany the party. it was decided to meet on Wednesday to finalise arrangements.
