BOXING

■ CASEY DEFEATS HEENEY. (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 10. Harry Casey (Wellington) the New Zealand middle-weight, boxing champion, defeated J. Heeney, ex-middle-weight champion of New Zealand, on points in a 15-rounds professional bout at, New Plymouth last night. The men were evenly matched, but Casey was the more aggressive and the more enterprising, and nearly all through the bout he held a slight advantage. There was a consideralile amount of infighting of a clever nature, but never once did the men appear to be wholly extended. In the last, two rounds Heeney seemed to be gripped by indecision, ami he appeared wholly unable to recover the ground he lost in the, earlier rounds. There were a number of amateur bouts, the results being:— . N. Robuck (Taranaki fly-weight champion) defeated S. Gray (Manawatu champion). T. Donovan (Taranaki featherweight, champion) defeated W. Gray (Manawatu light-weight champion). W. Stevens (Taranaki middle-weight, champion) knocked out B. Meads (Wanganui). AUSTRALIAN BOUTS. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, July 10.
