DEARER FERTILISERS. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 23. The first move towards an increase in fertiliser prices since the pricecutting “war” started early this year, is announced by Fertilisers Ltd., vendors of Challenge '‘superphosphate, which states that prices will be increased from £4 2/6 a ton to £4 12/6, to take effect from August 1. As the company already has booked enough orders to keep its works fully employed until August 1, no further orders will be taken before that date. The other two companies supplying the Auckland Province, Kempthorne Prosser and Co., Ltd., and the New Zealand Farmers’ Fertiliser Co., Ltd., have not yet decided on their future policy. The price for June will not be altered, but the agents have been notified that the rate from July 1 will be advised. That means that no forward sales are being made. AUSTRALIAN GRAIN PRICES. SYDNEY, June 23. Wheat is quoted at country stations at per bushel, ex truck at Sydney 2/6. Flour is quoted for export a £l2 12/6 per ton f.0.b., local £l3 5/. Bran and pollard are £7 per ton ; oats, Tasmanian and Algerian 5/ per bushel, white 4/8 to 4/10; maize, yellow 5/4 ; potatoes, Tasmanian, £5 10/ to £5 8/ per ton ; onions, Victorian, £5 10/. ' ADELAIDE, June 23. Wheat in growers’ lots is 5/5 to 5/5g per bushel. Parcels are nominally 5/8£ to 5/9. Flour in bakers’ lots is £l4 7/6 per ton : bran £6 15/ ,and pollard £7 per ton ; oats 3/8 per bushel.
HIDES MARKET FIRM. MELBOURNE, June 23. Hides are very active, light being one-eighth dearer and others very firm. COMMONWEALTH LOAN. SYDNEY, June 24. The Commonwealth 51 per cent, loan of £4,250,000, which was raised partly for the State, except New South Wales, and partly for the Federal Capital Commission, has been over subscribed by £21,000. N.Z. BUTTER NOT WANTED. SYDNEY, June 24. At a meeting of the executive of the Primary Producers’ Union, the question of shipments of New Zealand butter again occupied attention. A further effort is to be made to ascertain what firms are responsible for its importation, and the Government is to be asked to appoint an inspector to see that no New Zealand butter is sold in Australian boxes or wrappers, in bulk, or in prints. DAIRY PRODUCE. The National Mortgage and Agency Coy of N.Z. Ltd., have received the following cable from their principals, Messrs A. J. Mills and Co. Ltd., London: — Butter. —N.Z. butter sales this week made ■ principally at 162/- and allotments practically cleared. The market is now firmer and 164/- is quoted. The European production is very heavy. Danish 164/- to 166/-. Dutch unsalted 156/- to 158/-. Cheese. —Allotments have been cleared at 83/- to 84/- for white and 84/- to 85/- for coloured. The market is now firmer and prices raised, to 86/- for white and 88/- for coloured. ARAHURA STOCK SALE On Monday morning June 27, Jeffries & Co. 'will submit to auction at Arahura saleyards, prime bullocks, fat cattle, forward heifers and cows, 60 extra prime wethers and 120 fat sheep.
