SHANGHAI. May 15.
There is noticeable activity among the Japanese regarding the Yangtsze situation. A state of emergency has been declared in the Japanese concession at Hankow. Marines were landed, and the field guns and machine guns Avere placed on the boundaries. Searchlight from the warships are playing in all directions nightly. Latest reports state that Chiang Kai Slick launched an offensive against the north. He crossed from Nanking towards Pukow, with a large force attacking the Shantungese.
