WEST COAST ASSOCIATION.

The West Coast Ladies’ Hockey Association held their annual meeting last evening. The report and balance sheet were read and adopted as satisfactory. The following officers were elected: — Patron, the Mayor (Mr J. W. Greenslade) ; Vice-Patron, Mr W. H. Parfitt ; President, Mr H. Crankshaw; Vice-President, one from each club; Secretary-treasurer, Miss M. A. Dunn.

The following fixtures were drawn for the first round of the Brook Cup, southern section :—Mawhera v. State Coll., United v. Hokitika, May 18; Hokitika v. State Coll., Mawhera v. United, May 25 ; State Coll. v. United, Mawhera v. Hokitika, June 1 or 3.

Northern section :—Blacks Point v. Reefton, Waiuta. v. Cronadun, May 18; Reefton v. Waiuta, Blacks Point v. Cronadun, May 25 ; Reefton v. Cronadun, Waiuta v. Blacks Point, June 3.

The Secretary was instructed to write Reef ton re the Newman Shield, asking when a. West Coast rep. team could be sent to Reefton to play the local reps. The Mawhera Club asked permission to run a seven-a-side tournament for the “Mawhera Shield” donated by Mr H. Crankshaw, on June 8. — Granted.

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION.

CHRISTCHURCH, May 13.

A meeting of the management committee of the New Zealand Hockey Association was held last night. Mr H. Throp gave notice to move at the next meeting of the delegates to suspend the rule of the game which allows hooking of sticks, for the season 1927.

On the question of allocation of the Shield tournament, both Auckland and Nelson applied for control of the tournament this year. It was decided that the tournament be held in Auckland in July, provided that no less than three entries were received, exclusive of Auckland entries, which must be received not later than June 30.

The Canterbury Association’s request to control the North and South match at Christchurch was granted. The secretary was instructed to cable Australia for particulars regarding a proposed tour.
