Mr J. Lythgoe, who has been visi ing Wellingeon, returned yesterday.

Mr A. F. Drayton, managing director of Ashby Bergh and Co. will return to Christchurch to-morrow.

The death is announced from London of Admiral Lord K,err. He was born in 1839 and entered the Navy in 1853.

A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr J. C. Gittos, was last evening carried in silence by the Greymouth Borough Council.

Miss Vera Groom, second daughter of Mr and Mrs R. Groom, High Street was operated on at the Grey Hospital yesterday. Her condition to-day had slightly improved.

Included in the guests at the Albion Hotel are: —Misses Hunt, Burns, Messrs A. May (Christchurch), L. Easterbrook (Wellington), McNair, H. Avington (Auckland).

Mr A. A. Adams, who has been attending the meeting of the N. Z. Rugby Association in Wellington, returned yesterday. He was accompanied by his mother, who has been on an extended visit to the North Island.

Lieutenant-Colonel G. R. Mitchell, D. 5.0., has relinquished command of Fifth N.Z., Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars), and is transferred to the reserve of officers, Major F. Waite D. 5.0., has been appointed to command the Regiment.—Press Assn.

Advice was received vesterday afternoon of the death of Mrs C. Williams, who passed away at the residence of her daughter Mrs A. K. Marks, Nelson. Deceased had only been ailing for a week. She contracted a severe cold, which developed into pneumonia. She was 63 years of age, and a native of Wales. Her husband predeceased her six years ago. The body was brought to Greymouth today for interment. She leaves a family of four—one son, Frank (Secretary of the Onakaka ironworks), and three daughters, Mesdames Fred Wise (Greymouth), Dr. Elsie Wallis (Rotorua), and Mrs A. K. Marks (Nelson). The funeral-will take place on Sunday, leaving the residence of her daughter Mrs F. Wise at 2.30 p.m.
