OUTSIDER WINS HANDICAP
(Per Freea Assooiatioa.) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 28. The Autumn Meeting of the Manawatu Racing Club opened to-day in fine weather, although the course was somewhat heavy after the recent rains. The attendance was good. Results: — WOODHEY HANDICAP, 6 furlongs: — (1) Town Bird .. ..1 (2) Waicullus .. d 2 (6) Manly .3 Also ran —Orazine, Vast Acre, Kilmoyler, Berinthia, Thomond, Royal Flight, Sandburr, Mon Mint, Abbey Queen, Millie/Abbey and Tameterangi. Won by half a head; two lengths between second and third. Time 1.15 2-5. As the result of a. protest from the owner of Waicullus, the placings in the first race were reversed, viz., Waicullus 1, Town Bird 2, Manly 3. KAREHE HURDLES, 1 3-4 miles: — (9) San Pedro .. ..1 (1) Brigadier Bill . . .. 2 (5) Ardath .. .. .. 3 Also started —Kalakaua, Sottano, Omahu (coupled with Brigadier Bill), Matu, Eonmark, Comedy Prince, Vexatius, Rehutai, Rangi Sarto, Bonny Rill, Santonio and Hallowmorn. Won by half a length, with a length and a half between second and third. Time 3.15 1-5. PRINCE OF WALES HANDICAP, 9 furlongs.— (12) Black Mint 1 (4) Civility .. .. .. 2 (7) Yoma .. .. .. 3 Also started —Mandane, First Acre, Star Area, Clarinda, Novar, Scotch Mixture, Merry Day, Kilceit, Peneus, True Blood, Vertigern, Rouex, Vivo, Bonhomme, Buoyant, Royal Diadem, Pita, Captain Gazeley and Phantasy. Won by two lengths. Time 1.55. TE MATAI HANDICAP, 1 mile and a distance: — (1) Cohesion .. .. 1 (11) Koauau .. .. .. 2 (5) Capitulation .. .. 3 Also started —Kilmiss, Catcall, Lin Arlington, Gardant, Gordon Swift, Inoe, Mandarene, and Addlepate. Won by a neck. CIMABUE SOLD AUCKLAND, April 28. It is stated that two-year-old Cimabue has x been disposed of by W. G. Stead, and will go into F. Gilchrist’s stable at Ellerslie. TWO THOUSAND GUINEAS. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Assn.) LONDON. April 27. The race for the Two Thousand Guineas at Newmarket resulted: — Adam’s Apple 1. Call Boy 2 Sickle ... 3 Twenty-three started. Won by a short head.
