LOST IN BUSH
SEARCH PARTIES RETURN.
(Per Preaa Aosociation.)
WELLINGTON,. April 27. Cold, bleak, wintry conditions which made travel through the dense bush and junglelike undergrowth exceedingly slow and unpleasant, and progress further hampered by continual wading through raging mountain torrents waist deep in water, was the experience of the search parties who returned to Wellington to-day after an unsuccessful quest in the Tararuas for the missing youths, Desmond Scanlon and Roy Diedrich. The lads left Levin a fortnight ago to-day, intending to cross the range to the Wairarapa, but since then nothing has been seen of them.
HOPE ABANDONED
LEVIN, April 2S
All the search parties have returned from the Tararuas without finding any trace of the missing young men Diedrich and Scanlon, who set out on Good Friday morning to cross to Masterton.
Fog and mist have cleared, but snow on the higher peaks will prevent further search.
