MR J. CARLAW RESIGNS.

AUCKLAND. April 7

Mr James Carlaw’ tendered his resignation as president of the New Zealand Rugby League at the annual meeting last evening.

Speaking of the New Zealand team’s tour, he said: “I am so disheartened that I do not like to touch on the matter at all. I would like, however, to thank the players who remained loyal to Leagye.” He added that he would decide on Thursday evening on a fitting mark ot appreciation of the players in the team that w’ere loyal to the game and to the country that sent them away. Mr Carlaw’ became president in 1914, and retained the position until 1917, when he was appointed chairman of the Management Committee of the Auckland League. In that capacity he served until 1921, when he was again elected to the presidency of the New Zealand League. In that office he has continued ever since.

INANGAHUA OPENING GAME

The Inangahua Rugby League (Sub Centre) will open their season to-mor-row afternoon on the Reef ton Racecourse at 2.30 between teams repi esenting the town and country. The ground is in capital order and good football should be witnessed.
