MAKURA CLUB DOUBLES.

The championship doubles competition of the Makura Croquet Club was completed this week, the following being the result of the competition : — First Life. —First Round : Mrs McKay and Mrs Coburn a bye, Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell beat Mrs Thomas and Mrs Smith, Mrs Whibley and Mrs Mercer beat Mrs Topliss and Miss Sheedy. Mrs Hannan and Mrs Griffen defaulted Mrs Legg and Mrs Scott. Second round : Mrs McKay and Mrs Coburn lost to> Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell, Mrs Whibley and Mrs Mercer lost to Mrs Legg and Mrs Scott. Tn the final of this life Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell beat Mrs Legg and Mrs. Scott. Second Life. —First Round : Mrs Topliss and Miss Sheedy a bye, Mrs Whibley and Mrs Mercer beat Mrs McKay'and Mrs Coburn, Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell beat Mrs Legg and Mrs Scott, Mrs Thomas and Mrs Smith won by default from Mrs Hannan and Mrs Griffen. Second Round : Mi-s Topliss and Miss Sheedy beat Mrs Whibley and Mrs Mercer, Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell beat Mrs Thomas and Mrs Smith. The final of this life was played by Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell against Mrs Topliss and Miss Sheedy, Mrs Tennent and Mrs Saywell winning. They are therefore the winners of the championship doubles, having played all their games without being beaten.
