KID McCOY
A LONG SENTENCE. Kid McCoy, once a famous figure in British boxing circles, who was sent to goal at Los Angeles nearly two years ago for the manslaughter of Mrs Theresa Mors, the beautiful divorced wife of a wealthy man, has now beein informed that he must remain in custody for 24 years. His original sentence was an "indeterminate” term of one to ten years, and the latest decision was made by the Prison Board when taking action on cases which had come up for consideration. McCoy, whose real name is Norman Selby, collapsed on hearing the news. The sentence was made up as follow's: Ten years for manslaughter, seven years for assault and seven 5 ears for robbery. Before he was 25 McCoy made a for tune out of fighting, but he squandered it rapidly. He was seven times married. Four of his wives were v ealthy, but he soon ran through their money. He was one of the best-dressed pugilists of his day. On the racecourse he was a daring plunger. More than 20 years ago he fought at the National Sporting Club.
