Already, agreements have been reached with two of the smaller companies. The watersiders claim that heavy losses are being sustained by both shipowners and shippers, owing to the strike. Delays in sailings of steamers from various Australian ports are frequent, some being four days behind schedule. Several coastal vessels are laid up and the crews paid off.
