Plunket Sister Blathwayt, who has been relieving Sister Spring, returned to-day to Christchurch.'■

Col. Colquhdn, who has been visiting Greymouth and Hokitika, left this morning for Westport. .

Mrs. W. A. Caigou, who has been on a visit to relatives in Greymouth, left this morning for Wellington.

A cablegram from Berlin announced the death of Carl Ederth, discoverer of-the typhus bacillus.

Mr. J. A. C. Bayne,'Chief Inspector of -Mines, will return to Greymouth to-day, in connection with the Dobson disaster.

- Mrs. lan Simpson, iHawke’s Bay, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. A. ,y. Olliver, left this morning for 'Christchurch.

Mrs. Cyril -Hickman, who has been spending a holiday with her mother, Mrs, M. Hannan, left this morning on her return to Christchurch. ‘

Mr. V. Thomas (Hawera), is spending a holiday in Greymouth, and is the /guest •of Mr. and Mrs. Butcher, Shakespeare Street.

'A message from Munich stated that General Ludendorf is in a state of coma, his condition . being most, critical, following an operation for goitre.

Mr. W. Walls, of the Railway storekeepers’ staff at Greymouth, has received notice of transfer to Wanganui, and Mr. G. Smith, storeman, tp Addington.

Mr. H. Jamieson, teller of-the National Bank of New Zealand Ltd., Gteymouth, left this morning on his annual holidays. He is being relieved by Mr. W. Roche.

The death of Mr. H. L. Smyth took place on November 13, in Jimhour, Brisbane. Deceased was a broth-er-in-law of Mr. T. G. Hardie, and the late Mr. W. Dittman, of Greymoftith.

Evidfence of Mrs Hannan’s popularity regret at her departure from was shown yesterday witen at the residence of Mrs P. Tlambleton,' she was entertained at a large gathering of her friends, the Jhostesses on this occasion being 'Mesdames P. Hambleton and Shallcrass; A competition was held, the ■winner being Miss Hannan. After afternoon tea was served, Mrs Hambleton spoke of the esteem in which Mrs Hannan was Held by all, and how she would be missed, not ■only socially, but by the town, as she had always been ready to help all deserving functions. Mrs Hambleton then handed Mrs Hannan a leather suit case and bedroom clock, from her friends and saying they all hoped the time was not far distant when Mrs Hannan would bring the suit case back to Greymout)|. All joined in singing “Auld Lang Syne” and wishing Mrs Hannan a very happy time in her new home in Christchurch. Mrs. Hannan, in responding, thanked all who so ably assisted her in many movements for the betterment of Greymouth, and vdshed them all good health, happiness and prosperity. Their handsome gifts would always be treasured. It was hard indeed to payt with so many friends and she hoped in the near future to return to renew acquaintances.
