He has been arranging for a visit of a troop of Scouts from ’Akaroa under the Rev. which will eventuate during the Christmas holidays. It is proposed' to hold a camp at Lake Ranieri. The local Scouts will be pleased towelcome their old Scoutmaster. Keen' disappointment was felt by the boys last Saturday, when the rain interefered with the much-looked-for picnic with the Greymouth troop c at--Kumara Junction. With* ; the advent of sunshine, another start has been made in tarring the streets. Hamilton Street is to-day receiving, the attention of the Borough staff. The plant, which was procured ori -the advice of the Greym<j>uth engineer, has been very successful in the work and also economical in cdst. Ultimately all the streets and footpath? in the town may be tar-sealed. The.Jusual- Christmas clean-up is also being carried out, extra hands being for this work. 'There' was a crowded attendance at ;St. Mary’s l Club last evening when the final euchre of the season took place'.' ’.’ The euchres of this season have; ■ been very successful and the year’s profits have amounted to a substantial, sum.’ The prize winners were: Mrs. McGuigan 1, (Christmas hamper), Mrs. I .Fitzgerald 2, (Christmas hamper), Mrs. Veale 3 (Pyrex dish); Mr. li7? i <^nyan: - r4,' (dressed doll). After the play off, supper was served before the gathering dispersed.
