QUEUES FOR SAFETY.

(To the Editor) Sir, —There is an important job waiting for some person or public body to take Upon themselves to see carried out! The matter has been' ventilated on previous occasions in your paper by various correspondents. That is, the necessity (more than the mere advisability) of regulating the entrance and exit of patrons to and from places of entertainment. This was very noticeable again last night in the tremendous crush to get into the School concert at the Opera House. There were, women and tiny children "who not only endured acute discomfort, but were in disk of grpat. danger. What would happen in such an unregulated crowd, in case of a panic of fire, is painful to imagine. Can we not get our house in order in this direction? For the love of decency let the Chamber of Commerce, the , Progress League, the Borough Cohncil, the police, and Air Sloss get their heads together and reform this, dangerous practice. For a start, I exhort the Borgugh Council to take the first move in apportioning the responsibility, and see that the by-laws are carried out, or if there is no bylaw governing entertainment queues, to get one put through “inst.” In the meantime, . Alj- Editor, perhaps j’ou may be able to tell who would shoulder the blame in case of accident or death. —Yours etc., “NOBODY’S BUSINESS.’’
