GREYMOUTH TROTS. TO-MORROW AND MONDAY The improvement in the weather to-day has delighted the hearts of the Greymouth Trotting Club’s members and the public generally, and it was the only thing wanting to ensure the complete success of the Spring Meeting, to be held at Victoria Park tomorrow and Monday (Labour Day). Special arrangements are being made to compensate for the loss in accommodation caused by the destruction of one grandstand by lire. The Greymouth Municipal Band will discourse music during both afternoons, and, in fact, everything on the lawn will be lovely. Mr. A. J. Hastings will carry out the duties of starter, and a Reynolds starting machine will be used, as on city courses. A special train, conveying the Canterbury quota of horses and spectators, arrived this afternoon, and the visitors fully expect to take away with them a large slice of the stake money. It will not be for want of effort on the part of the Coast contingent if they succeed. The Free-for-All, to be run to-morrow between six of the New Zealand nearchampions, and the Jubilee Handicap, in which the same horses will compete on Monday, will be the high lights of the programme, but the remainder of the events will also be of a most attractive class. Special trains have been arranged for from all parts of the Coast. The first race is timed to start at 12.15 p.m.

KEEFTON JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the Committee was held at the Club Room on Wednesday evening, Mr E. W. Spencer (President) m the chair. It was resolved that the Secretary ask the St. John Ambulance Society for further particulars of their requirements, also whether they were prepared to attend race meetings free of charge. A deputation from the Inangahua Trotting Club waited on the Committee, asking permission to continue training operations on the plough while grassing the trotting track. Proposed by Mr Patterson, seconded by Mr Conway that permission be given to the Trotting Club to grass the trotting track subject to any conditions that may be imposed by the Ground Committee of the Jockey Club.—Carried. Mr A. McMullan, disqualified jockey, appeared before the Committee, asking for the removal of the disqualification imposed, as there was a scarcity of hurdle horsemen in this part of the district, and the Chairman of the District Committee recommended him to apply to this Club. Resolved that the District Committee b e written to asking if Mr McMullan’s statement was correct, and if so, that this Club has no objection to offer to his being allow'ed to ride. Proposed by Mr Coghlan, seconded by Mr Discaciati, thad; Mr J. Nohra’s application for re-admission to racecourses be favourably considered. An amendment was proposed by the Chairman, and seconded by Mr Conway, that Mr Nohra be asked to com-

ply with the suggestion in the letter from the District Committee and make direct application for re-admis-sion to the Committee set up for that purpose. The amendment was defeated and the motion carried. The programme for the Midsummer Meeting was read and approved.
