BEAM WIRELESS. LONDON, October 20. Marconi, addressing American and Empire pressmen, said the operation of beam wireless in Australia, would not be long delayed. It will give direct transmission without intermediate stations, and be an additional supplementary route from Canada, with a guarantee of seven hours’ daily service, which will be greatly exceeded. A twenty-six metre wave length will be used, or alternatively, a shorter length in event of unusual atmospherics. Marconi claimed that with the beam system atmospherics virtually ceased to exist a .hindrance to high speed communication. It was undoubtedly a system of unlimited telegraphy, and was also applicable to telephony and photography. AVe can visualise the future Imperial Conference at which delegates can represent their countries without leaving their firesides. Ihe tests in Australia will commence in six weeks. It will-be impossible to pick up message intermediately owing to the high speed.
