The Odlin case was again mentioned in the Magistrate’s Court today. Mr. Tudhope, Counsel for the Taxation Department, after referring to Odlin having been fined £4OO, also the Company, said it was felt that the ends of justice would be met if the remaining eight charges against C. C. Odlin were withdrawn, as they were in respect to the same acts and transactions as already dealt with. The charges were withdrawn accordingly. - .. ; ' , ASHBURTON, October 15. George Tretheway, 29, labourer, pleaded guilty to being a rogue and vagabond in that he did impose on Ensign Pratt of the SalVhtion Army, by falsely representing that he was married to a certain woman, thereby obtaining board and 'lodging, and breaking the terms of his release, on a similar charge' heard in Christchurch on Monday. Tretheway, who is a. married man with several children arrived in Ashburton on Tuesday on a motor cycle accompanied l& a girl of 18, whom he represented to be his wife. The Ensign gave him a voucher to procure board and lodging for himself and companion. He was sentenced to six months’ 'hard labour on the first charge, and convicted and discharged’ for a breach bf probation.
