ZINOVIEFF ARRESTED

CHEKA LEADER POISONED. x SENSATIONAL REVELATIONS. * . . .Australian and N.Z. Cable Association). (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright.) LONDON, July 28, The “Daily Mail’s” Moscow correspondent says: The reported arrest of Zinovieff and his internment to prevent him from communicating with his supporters, many of whom are imprisoned, including the former finance Minister Sokolnikov, who is likely to be shortly tried in connection with Dzerzhinsky’s death, marks the climax of startling revelations which are leaking out from Russia. Varying official accounts of Dzerzhinsky’s death have been published, some attributing it to cancer of the stomach and others to paralysis of the heart. It is now stated he died three hours after making a fighting speech before the Central Communist Committee, in which he bitterly attacked the party of malcontents threatening dire consequences of Cheka’s mailed fist, and hinting that the prisons and torture chambers at present filled with Bourgeoisie, could easily be converted to hold rebellious leaders.

'.Those most closely in touch with inner circles believe that someone on the platform dropped poison into the glass of water from which Dzerzhinsky sipped while attacking the clique to which the supposed murderer belonged. Dzerzhinsky left the meeting in the best of health, but began vomiting immediately he arrived home, dying, in terrible agony His last words were: “It is finished. They have done their business.” . ’ •

Dzerzhinsky’s spies previously allegedly found evidence proving Zinovieff was the ringleader of the conspiracy to assassinate the principal Soviet leaders, who are now specially guarded. All their food is tasted before being eaten.
