— --tO McDonald v. williams. (Per Press Association.)

TIMARU, June 21. The Timaru Boxing Association, on Saturday night, staged one of the best professional contests ever held in Timaru. The principals, Merv. Williams (Australia) and Lachie McDonald (Timaru), the contest being one of fifteen rounds for a purse of £lOO. The men entered the ring at catch weights, Williams appearing to be carrying more condition than his opponent, but in the closing rounds, it could he seen that Williams was the fitter of the two. The men made things willing, and while for a time there was nothing of outstanding merit in the contest, from the seventh round on it was well worth seeing. Williams was the agressor throughout. He hit cleanly and used his feet well. McDonald was at times sluggish and most of hi; punches lacked sting. The decision of the referee went,..in favour of McDonald, but in the opinion of a very large section of the audience, the decision should have been the other way, n.n/1 thpv ivpvo miinV in vnimi i.hpir riiQ
