GREY POWER BOARD

APPOINTMENTS MADE. A special meeting of the Grey Electric Power Board was held last evening. Present: Messrs D. Tennent (chairman), 0. Uddstronj, H. Duggan, J. W. Greenslade, H. G. Carter, A. Robinson, ,W. Leitch and D Baybutt. , • The principal business was the selection of a secretary-accountant, for which there were fifty-nine applicants. The number was first reduced to twelve, and further reduced by ballot. to three, and then to two. It was -decided, to liave a personal interview with the two applicants leit in the final ballot, and to make an appointment at a special meeting to be held on March 22. There were no less appliqatidfis for the positions of first, second, third, and. fourth engineers for the Power House. After applications had been carefully investigated, twenty-nine names were selected from which to choose candidates for the positions. The following were duly appointed: First Engineer, C. W. Clark, Lake Coleridge, or M. J. McConville, Wanganui; second engineer, B. E. Older (Christchurch); third engineer, R. Sullivan (at present engaged in erection of plant at Dobson); fourth engineer, R. S. Gillies, Wellington. Messrs Schaef and Son submitted an offer for a Chevrolet one-ton truck 1926 model, at £197 18s 6d, which

was accepted. The Engineer reported that steam Jiad been raised at the Power House, and the generators given a. trial run without >a load. A full load test would be made next week, beforetaking over the, plant from the con-’ tractors. If nothing- unforseen happened, the plant would be in full running in fourteen days. It is hoped to have the formal opening ceremony performed by the Hon. G. J. Coates.
