SYDNEY WOOL SALES. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, March 8. The wool sales were resumed to-day, the market ruling very strong at the best rates of the previous series, with a slightly better demand for super lines, and keen enquiry in all sections, with a good clearance. Greasy Merino sold to pence. " FROZEN MEAT. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from thbir London House, under date of March 4 :— “Lamb- —New Zealand prime crossbred lamb, North Island heavy, old and new season, 6(,d to 7d; North Island, light, lOd. 'Demand "for New Zealand lamb is moderate. “Mutton. —New Zealand prime crossbred mutton, North Island heavy sad, light sfd ; Canterbury not quoted. Market for New -Zealand mutton is weak; demand runs principally on light weights. “Beef.- —New Zealand prime ox beef hinds 4d; fores 2gd. Market for beef is nominal; there is no demand.

ARAHURA FAT STOCK SALE. At yesterday’s fixture the yarding consisted of 70 fat sheep,'ls fat lambs and 45 head of fat cattle. There was a moderate attendance of buyers, but competition was restricted to prices in keeping with those recorded for several private sales recently made along the Coast. It - being understood ’ that butchers can get their requirements at from 3/- to 5/- per 1001 b below ruling rates at these yards. Vendors, however, were not disposed to accept the reported sales, and yesterday certain buyers were on the point of sending their fat cattle to Addington, which announcement bucked the bidding up 1 bit and a total clearance was made. Prices per 1001 b were, if anything, slightly better than last fixture, the quality being good. There was again a large entry of cows and heifers, some of which were extra prime. The yarcting of sheep was particularly good. Messrs W. Jeffries .and Co. sold as follow t On account Mr R. Olderog, 1 cow £5 15/, 1 ditto £4, 1 vealer'£3 1/.’ On account of N. Friend, 2 bullocks at £l3, 9 ditto at £l2, 2 ditto at £lO 15/,. 2 steers at £9 5/, 1 ditto at £7 10/, 1 heifer at £9 5/, 2 ditto at £7 12/6, 3 ditto at £6 5/, 1 at £6, 2 ditto at £5 17/6, 1 ditto £5 2/6. On account of Mr Jas. Davidson, 1 cow at £9, T' heifer at £9 10/. 1 at £9 7/6, 1 at £B, 3 steers at £9, 2 ditto at £8 7/6, 2 ditto at £712/6. On 3ccmint Mi N. Friend, 69 wethers at 28/6, 10 lambs at 25/. There was an excellent entry of breeding ewes, from the North Island, for which there was restricted competition. The sheep had every appearance of being much travelled, but were large framed and exceedingly close-woolled. At competition they did not reach the vendor’s reserve, but subsequently two pens were sold at 30/.
