The . scratch race, in which rive men started from the mark, the one mile cycle, was won by Nicholson, of Auckland, wrio got a jump in the last half lap, while Herder and O’Shea yieer watching each other, and this enabled Nicholson to win by a wheel from O’Shea, ' who beat Border by inches, Time 2-24 3-5. O’Bhea got a verdict against Border by a wheel in winning the threelap open race, but Border easily disposed of all opponents in the sprint raae of one lap, in which he was giving away up to seventy yards. . TENNIS.

The match between the Hokitika and Grey Tennis Clubs, on Saturday, resulted in a win for Hokitika by 17 sets (165 games), to '6 sets (128 games). In the men’s singles fftid doubles, Hokitika did suffer any reverses. In the ladies’ singles they lost two games out of six. In the ladies’ doubles, Greymouth proved the superior players, whilst in the combined doubles, Grey were successful only once out. of six matches. GREY LEAGUE CLUB.
