Mr H. P. Lawry, S. M. left this morning tor Christchurch. Mr T. O’Hallahan left this morning on a holiday trip to Dunedin. Miss N. Barrett left this morning on a holiday trip to Auckland. Mr and Mrs W. MoVicar, of Blackball, have left for a holiday ivisit to Dunedin. Misses A. Stapleton and P. Thomp. son, Hokitika, left this morning on a holiday trip to Dunedin. Mi- C. G. Berry, who has been visit, ing his mother, Alexandra Street, returned. this morning to Wellington. Mr G. Williams, Palmerston North, is visiting his brother, Mr C. McKechnie. Mrs P. McCleary, who has been on a visit to .Mrs C. Giffney, Murray Street, returned to-day to Culverden. Mr and Mrs W. Symonds, Wellington, who have been visiting Mrs R. Boddy, High Street, returned north this morning. Miss L. Williams, of the Greymouth Main School'staff, has been recommended a further month’s leave of absence, owing to illness. Mr N. P. Ewart, Chief Clerk, Railway Engineer’s Office, Wellington, who has been visiting the Coast, returned to-day. Mr J. McNair, District Resident Railway Engineer for Canterbury, is visiting' Westport, and will arrive in Greymouth early next week. Mrs James Barkley and Miss V. Barkley, who have been visiting Mr and Mrs Jas. Ring, Shakespeare Street, returned to-day to Auckland. Mr and Mrs W. Browne, Cobden, left this morning on a visit to Dunedin. Mr Percy Coleman, crack New Zealand motor-cycle speedster, was presented with a set of fish knives and forks as a token front the Auckland Motor Clyde Club to mark-his recent marriage. Coleman said that he would be racing next season.

Mr lan Oster, who, for the last five years, has been a reporter on the *‘Press,” and who is going to Sydney, was met by the literary staff yesteix day, and .presented with a wristlet watch as a‘ token of the, esteem in which he is held by his fellow workers. Mr M. C. Keane, editor of the ‘‘Press, ’ made the presentation and wished Mr Coster every success.
