AUCKLAND) Jdfludry §4, The American athletes, Scholtz and Hahn, were very successful in their first appearance, in competition in Auckland:

Sdhoftz won life olid Hundred yards handicap frorti scratch ill lOsecs,, and the 220 yards from scratch ifi 21 2=5 secs.

Hahn won the one mile handicap from scratch in 4min. 28secs., and from scratch lie dead-heated with P. C. Gilmour,, of New Plymouth (ten yards), in the 550. yards, in 51 3-ssecs. These were the only races the Americans lan in.

Gilmour (20 yards) won the 880 yards handicap in 2hlin. 2secff.
