PREMIER’S STATEMENT
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
BUDAPEST, January 20
“There is going to be a great investigation,” promised Count Bethlen in a speech in the Assembly, during the debate on the bank note scandal.
The Assembly was packed with Deputies and the public, and the proceeding were most animated. Much oi Bethleris speech was inaudible above the din, Members on the Left shouting loudly in a chorus “Resign,” while Government supporters made a counter demonstration, standing and cheering the Premier.
The latter emphasized the fact that the Government had not been evading responsibility, but the duty of ascertaining facts was the Ibusiiiess of the courts rather than of /he Government, though the latter wished to clear up the political background; if such existed.
Count Bethlen repeated -that there were no trace of any revolutionary schemes.
