WESTPORT, Dec. 2
Mr A. Mclntyre, who was on the staff of Bailie and Co., left for Wellington yesterday to take a position in the Public Trust Office.
At a meeting of the Westport Swimming and Surf Club ,held last evening, Dr Foote presiding, it was decided to hold a carnival during Christmas week, when five Canterbury representatives will take part, these being Herd, Lindsay,• ■ Stokes, Keesing and Hill.
At St. Canice’s euchre and 45’s competition held last evening, prizes were won by Mrs Hansby 1, Mrs Collins 2, H. Hale 1, Mr Arc 2. Miss Mary '.Spillane won the 45’s. At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court held yesterday, several parents wtre proceeded against for not sending their children to school. The cases were conducted in the Juvenile Court and were conducted by Mi- Masters, truant inspector for the Nelson Education Board.
