(Our Own Correspondent.) WESTPORT, December 1Mrs Frank McLean Avon the cake donated by Callaghan Bros, in connection with the Fire Brigade sports meeting. Greymouth won four first and one. second prizes at the sports meeting, prize money amounting to £l7 10; Kumara with a first and a second won £6, and Cobdfn, with a first, second, and third, secured £5. Mr Mark Fagan, who: shortly takes over the Prince of Wales Hotel, tendered his resignation to the Inangahua Trotting Club. A resolution was passed asking Mr Fagan to withold ffis tresignation r|nt|ijL after the meeting in December-, and he; agreed to do so. Mrs W. McLellan, daughter-in-law of Mr D. McLellan, Sergeants’ Hill, died 1 at Wellington on Saturday. Mr Clark, storekeeper in the railway, returned on Saturday from his annual holiday spent in Auckland. The death took place suddenly last Friday of Mr B. T, Brown, at Blenheim. Deceased was formerly on the staff of Mr W. Panckhurst, Westport. He leaves a widow (Miss A. Wright) also of Westport, and a large family of young children. A most popular item given at the smoke concert on Saturday ni/ght was a bones selection, by Mr White, Greymouth. Mr and l Mrs Alf Thompson take over Scanlon’s Hotel from* to-day, A juvenile open-air concert was given in the town on Saturday evening, the proceeds being in aid of the O’Connor Home.
