NEWS AND'NOTES. (By “Outsider”). Rational has been put into work again by R. Johnson at New Plymouth. The brilliant Absurd gelding has had a good spell, and he should be useful again when autumn events come up for decision. It is reported'that Runnymede has been sold for a "substantial figure for export. His destination has not yet been made known. Since Roseday has been in work, he has displayed signs of lameness, but it was apparently only a passing ailment, and he now seems sound again. Muraahi is being mentioned again in connection with the Auckland Cup, in which he dead-heated with Te Kara two years ago. His form at the recent meeting of the Waikato Racing Club was good, and he is still susceptible to improvement in condition. It is stated that Mr R. Miller, the owner of the Melbourne Cup winner Windbag, had his horse backed to win £20,000. The value of the first prize in the race amounted to £10,215. The Palmerston North sportsman, Dlr C. P. Nash, has sold his business and intends to leave early next year with Mrs Nash on an extended visit to Australia. At present his intention is Io take Imperial Spark across with him. but Imperial Purse.—,. and Mrs Nash’s gelding, Chrissarto, will probably go into other hands.
