The South Canterbury Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting concluded to-day. The weather was dull but fine. There was an average attendance. The track was good. At the termination of the flat racing season the leading winning owner was Lord Astor, who won £35,723. For this he was chiefly indebted to Saucy Sue, winning £22,155. Solly Joel won £35,501 and the Aga Khan £32,972. Lord Derby heads the list of breeders, with £70,000. The principal trainer is Alec Taylor, while G. Richards heaas the list of winning jockeys with 118 wins. F. Bullock, who is retiring from the saddle owing to increasing weight, intends to become a trainer.

The Westport Jockey Club has decided to increase the stakes for its annual meeting by £lBO. The Buller Licensed Victuallers’ Association will probably donate a cup for the big race.
