A charwoman, entering the Garibaldi.Mnn in' the morning., found the bar in . disc der, and money scattered on the floor, i-The-proprietor,,.Ernest Laight, and-his wife were dead in the cellar, both shot. 'Their son, aged two, was upstairs, suffocated; 1, ■ ‘ ” •

Probationer Constable Herbert Burrows, 22, a friend of the family, was arrested on a .-charge- of 'murder. He visited the Inn between: ten o’clock and. midnight, and reported for duty next morning. -■ A (search of Burrows’s lodgings revealed a revolver containing three spent cartridges.. Later, Coxton was arrested and charged with murder.
