CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. The annual meeting of the Gl’ey Caledonian Society was held last’ evening, when a large attendance of members was presided oyer. by Chieftain D. McKay, in the unavoitiabie "absence of Chief O. McLean. 4 The report and balance-sheet disclosed a most satisfactory position, The members’ toll showed a total membership of 180. The election of officers and committees resulted as follows! Chief, Mr O. McLean (re-elected) j chieftains, Messrs D. MdKay, T. Tentieiit, N. B; E., J. \C. Hay, J. jSidDeap, W. Cochrane, C. McQueen. Committee: Messrs C. Miller, J. S. Ross,-N. 'Grant, 'R. T. Bush, J. Forbes. Treasurer, Mr D. Tennent (re-elected); secretary, Air J. Hambleton (re-elected). Official piper, Mr E. J. C. Hay (reelected). Ladies’ Committee: Mesdames D. Tennent ; (cotftiehei), Hay, Drake, Bush, Lamberton, Murray, Duncan, J. Hambleton, P. Hambleton, D McKay. McLauchlan, O. McLean, J. McLean, H. McGlashan, Kilpatrick, Graham, Cochrane,, Miller, Pound, Stewart, and-Miss Jean Tennent. A special vote of thanks was accorded Piper. Hay for voluntarily conducting classes, for the revival of'Scottish dances, the dances having given added interest to the monthly Inglesides. It was decided to hold a Caledonian picnic dn Boxing Day. After the ordintiry business had concluded, the’final Ingleside of the season was con tin tied, The programme being in charge of 'Piper Hay. Interspersed with dancing, ihusical ys items were given by Misses F. iMack«e 6 and A. Tennent, and a Highland ring by the juveniles. In a Hyland SI ng contest between Messrs W Cochme and J. S. Ross, the Judge. Airs Ang|l, was provided by the Ladies Commitdeclared a draw. An was provided by the Ladies Committee. The Canterbury Progress Lea o u (Westland Branch) wrote expressing thanks for vote of £5O towards publicity campaign.
