Wheat cargoes opened fine, but owing to the lack of buying, closed dull and occasionally lower. Parcels only did small business at the lower rates.: Liverpool futures, October 10/6|, December IQ/lj, March 9/llg. Spot trade was rather more active, and, occasionally higher. Australian ex-ship 56/. BUTTER AND CHEESE. Copy of cablegram received by Dalgety and Company, Limited, from their London office, dated, October 23:— Butter.—Market, stagnant. New Zealand 216/-. Exceptional brands 222/ Danish 224/-; Australian finest salted 208/-. , ' Cheese. —Market steady but quiet.
' ARAHURA SALE. There was a large yarding of mixed store cattle at Arahura fixture bn Wednesday including 3 or 4 pens of really good grown . steers. Notwithstanding the cattle were showing the effects of. the very bad Spring; anything with breeding was' eagerly sought for. A line of R. Olderog’s 2 arid 3-yr. Shorthorn steers making up .to £9/15/-. Young steers were also in demand at improved prices, also old cows arid springers of which the usual complement came forward. A pedigree Shorthorn bull 5 years, made £lB/18/-. The whole of the yarding was cleared. Messrs W. Jeffries and Co., sold as follow:—For R. Thomson 1 S.H. bull £lB/18/-. For Mrs. Martin one 18months steer £3 2/-. For D. Bradley aged cow arid calf £3/2/6, one dry cow £2, four 18months’ steers £3/15/-, 1 nondescript bull £l. For R. Bradley 1 bull £3 15/-, 1 bull calf £l, 3 18-months’ old steers at £3/15/6, one cow and calf £4/5/-, one dry cow £3. For L. Kelly I cow in profit £6, 1 springer £3/15/. For J. PairiinenLls 2-year steers (lbw condition) £ 5/12/6. For E. Mills’ 1 springer .£ 5/15/-. For T. Harris 3/ 2 J year steers at - £7, one 2- year steer at £4, cow rind calf £3/17/6.' For R.
