Tlie key to control lies in prevention, along the following lincjs. Tiriibers' inbsft ‘.'Susceptible should be avoided. l Among New Zealand timbers this refers to kahikatea and sap wood of most others. Even in the case of kahikatea and certainly of oilier specials, ■•■ the heart wood is less liable to infestation. All constructional timbersshould be seasoned before use ■ when treatment with insecticides would be effective. The best insecticide is crude creosate.
