OLD PEOPLE’S HOME

A SUCCESSFUL BALL. — With bright lights, flowers and coloured streamers, the Committee for the ball at the Old People’s Home last evening successfully overcame any disabilities which might have been occasioned by the stormy weather. Once inside the building, the large number present entered into the gaiety of the evening, and dancing was continued to the strains of Chalk’s orchestra until early in the morning. Visitors had every opportunity of viewing the new home. The two largest rooms, which were used for dancing, were connected by verandahs and a smaller room furnished as a lounge. At the other end of the building two rooms were set apart for those who cared to play bridge or five hundred. Several small rooms were utilised as dressing rooms and in the remainder, a committee under Mrs F. Dennehy, served supper. Amongst those present were: Mesdames J. W.
