GREYMOUTH GAS DEPT.
IMPORTANT MEDICAL OPINIONS
It is admitted by the medical profession that much sickness is caused through persons leaving warm sitting rooms and., retiring to • cold damp bedrooms. The strong may stand it, but in this variable climate to the very young and aged, it is often the cause of serious illness. All this may. be obviated by Installing at a small outlay a Gas Heating Stove or a small Radiator—which consumes only a few penny-worth of ggs. Last year in London alone 3,623 medical doctors were using gas fires. All the English • hospitals are large consumers of gas for heating and otUier purpose:*. St. Thomas'’ Hospital, London, for .example, has no fewer than 211 heating stoves—Westminster, St. Bartholomew, and the great Ormond Street Hospital for 'Stick children—fare all large users of gas fires. The Royal Institute of Public Health, London, has 24 gas fires, and the Institute of Hygiene has also a large number in use. It can be truly said, therefore, that the healthiness of gas fires for Iheating is today almost universally recognised by the medical profession and by Sanitary Authorities 1 and ’'that those responsible for the administration of charitable institutions in which scrupulous care is necessary as to the exercise in the expenditure of every pound, are convin-’ed of the true economy of this form of fuel.' We advise .all to call and inspect the stocks at the Showrooms, Tainui Street. I —Advt.
