SHIPPING NOTES., As ;( result of the heavy' rain on Wednesday, there was 21 feet of water on the bar at high water yesterday. The Joan Craig is loading timber, and is expected to sail for Melbourne about Tuesday next. The Piri (schr.) arrived with a cargo of explosives from Melbourne yesterday afternoon, after an uneventful run. of twenty-one days, daring which southerly winds pi evailed. After medical inspection by the Port Health Officer, Dr. J. F. C. Moore, the Piri berthed at the wharf at 3.40 p.m. yesterday.
The Kaimai arrived this morning from Wellington. She is loading coal and general cargo for Wellington. The Kakapo is expected to sail this evening for Wellington, via Westport, with a part load of coal. The Poolta is expected to sail this evening for Auckland with coal and timber.
The Kaitangata is due to-morrow from Dunedin, via Timaru and Westport. The Opua sailed this morning for Miramar, -.vith coal and timber. The Waimea sails tb-night for New Plymouth with a cargo of timber. The Orepuki is due on Saturday from Lyttelton, via Nelson and Westport, with general cargo. The Regulus is due to-night from Wellington, via Picton and Westport, with general cargo. The Alexander leaves Wellington on Saturday for Coast direct, with general cargo. .
The old paddle steamer Nainoi, which ] for 40 years was engaged regularly in t the Sydney-Newcastle trade, has been ] sold to the “Namoi” Syndicate, Mr. J. 1 M. Hill being the manager. Though f the old ship had a sea-going certificate < until a few weeks ago, it is not the in- j tention of the syndicate to keep her<n ccommission. She will be broken up, j Few vessels trading out of Sydney have 1 had a more successful career than the ] old Namoi, She was built in 1883, t and since 1884 has been employed in the Hunter River passenger and cargo service. The Newcastle is the only j paddle steamer now. left in the Newcastle trade. SCHOONER SOLD. (Per Press Association.) GISBORNE, July 30. The schooner War Lord, stranded at 1 Waikokopii. last.year, has been sold to Jolifi Burns and Co-, Auckland.
