HOKITIKA NOTES
! • (Our Own Correspondent). HOKITIKA, July 29. On Monday evening a large number of relatives and friends gathered at the residence of Mrs E. Reynolds, Bealey. Street, Hokitika, to colebratl her 90th birthday. Relatives attended from all parts of the Dominion, and included grand-children and great-grand-children. Mrs Reynolds, whose faculties are unimpaired, received her visitors, and during the course of. the evening assisted in their entertainment with singing and reciting. She was the recipient of a big sheaf, of congratulatory telegrams. Congratulations were also extended by those present, Mrs Revnolds and her son (MrHoward Reynolds) responding. The sub-committee of the Hokitika School Committee and the Rector met last evening to discuss ways and means of raising funds for putting the school grounds in order. Several ways were suggested, but it was finally decided to recommend that a “Fair” be held at the school on Wednesday, September 2. It is hoped to raise about £BO by this means.
