The draw lor the Davis Cup tie, which is to be played at Eastbourne between England and France, result 4 ed: First match, Turnbun against Lacoste, second match, Crole-Reeu against Borotra. The latter has not yet reached England. ' Possibly he will be replaced by Cochet. The English team have been practising since Wednesday. They are reported to be in good fettle. They wore ceded first i and second among the ' foreign entrants. Patterson drew a bye and meets Donald Hill, champion of the State of Maine in the Second round, then G. Peabody Gardner, a. former inter-cdllegiate champion. Patterson is in t’k°. same quarter with Fredric Mui’cur, the former Lehigh player, who tops the American codings. Hawkes plays Joseph Russell of Manila in the second round. Shimizu Harada, Arnold Joner., Niles and Cranston Holman'are the others ceded. Play starts on July 13, with' eighty-five competitors. The Australians are also playing in the doubles starting on Julv ,14. They practised at Longwood to-day, and they were later the guests of honour at the International.
