REEFTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent) REEFTON, July 10. The forthcoming Winter School lectures for farmers to be delivered at Reefton are being looked forward to with keen interest, and a full muster is expected on Tuesday morning next when the session opens, The range of subjects is well chosen, and the lecturers are thoroughly conversant both theoretically and practically, _ with the particular phase of farming with which they deal. The lectures- will be fully illustrated with lantern slides and the Theatre Royal has been engaged for the purpose of displaying the lantern slides.

Private advice has been received today of the death at Thames of Henry AlcClean (Chick). Deceased tho .second son of the late John AlcClean,; and lived, the early part of his life in the Reefton district, being educated at Blacks Point anl the Reefton District High School. Aliners’ phthisis was the cause of death, and his age was 51 years. The fancy dress ball of the pupils di the Reefton District High School took place at the Theatre Royal on. Friday evening and was a very enjoyable gathering. The large number of costumes and originality displayed was worthy of a much larger centre. The hall was beautifully decorated by the schoolboys under the able direction of Messrs R. Wills and A. E. Werry, headmaster, the scene, with tho floor filled with the little dancers was extremely pretty. Great credit is due to all concerned for the success of the gathering. Alessi’s ITopkirk and Hutton provided the nhi s ‘ ic and Air Hl" Werry was an efficient AI. After the children had left't' ' floor AIT Jno. Lowry was AI.C., and before the little one.s dispersed, Mr A. E. Werry, headmaster of the District High School, expressed the thanks of himself and staff to Alessvs R. AVdls and 11. Walseleben for help in supervising the decorations, Mr Crumpton for granting the me of the hall tor decoration purposes on Thursday evening, and to all who had helped with the gathering.
