At the paying over of the stake money in the Goudsell—Hannan match, Hannan reiterated that the best sculler won on the day. If he (Hannan) could not get a race with Durhan, the Canadian, he would retire.
A New South Wales- committee of sportsmen then asked Hannan if he would accept a race with Saul for £2OO aside, the winner to row Goodsell. This match is made possible, as Saul has not definitely challenged Gcodsell. Hannan says that lie is favourable to the proposal to row Saul. BILLIARDS. AUCKLAND, June 29. McConachv is 9334 (in play), -and Flakiner 9298. RUGBY UNION SUPPORTERS. A meeting of the West Coast Rugby Union Supporters’ Association wa's held last evening, Air P. J. Patterson presiding. It was resolved to write to the Rugby Union and suggest that the goal posts in Victoria Park be padded as soon as possible. The Secretary was directed to advise each local club to -send the names of the players available for the Hokitika match to the sole selector so that the team to play on July 8 can be selected. An endeavour is being made to arrange for a Hokitika, learn to come l-> Greymouth, and play a return match shortly, Matches for Wednesday afternoon (to-morrow) w 11 be;--3 p.m., Combined Offices v.
