ALLIANCE OF LABOUR
PROPOSAL OPPOSED.
(Special to “Star”).
WELLINGTON, June 29.
The local Labour Unions have recently had before them the proposals adopted at the open conference called by the Alliance of Labour in April last, in regard to the affiliation of the Trades and Labour Councils. Their decisions will be conveyed to the local Council, which is to discuss the position on July 9. It is understood that the Council will be guided in reaching a decision by the opinions expressed by the various unions. From enquiries made, it is further understood that there is little chance of the proposals meeting with the approval of the general body of workers in Wellington, and as a result, the Trades and Labour Council will probably maintain its separate identity.
